I walked to the back of the house and noticed the garage door was up. Inside, a stranger grabbed power tools, electrical cords, and everything he could carry. He took them out of the garage and dropped them over the fence into the alley.

Watching in horror from the backyard gate, I called for our vicious guard dog. “King! King!”

The intruder turned and waved “hello” to me. But the big, high-energy dog didn’t look in my direction. He laid there, licking his paws.

“King! King!”

The stranger pretended he was at home, acting as if I called him. He turned to me again and smiled.

The dog’s job was to protect the garage and the backyard. That’s all. But King was too busy having a spa day to respond.

The scene angered me so much that I opened the gate and walked up the driveway toward the garage. “King!” I shouted with great authority. The diva dog continued grooming himself and completely ignoring me.

I don’t have to take this

Fuming, I slowly walked toward the burglar. I firmly gripped what was in my pocket. Many people that I know carry pistols at all times…
