What does Stealing Baseball Signs Have to do With Ball Games?
A true fan questions it
Mad that her beloved Astros baseball team received a $5 million fine for stealing signs, a friend who lives in Houston called me to talk about it.
“Why would they steal signs? They don’t steal. They make enough money to buy anything they want.
Anyway, what kind of signs are they accused of stealing? Were they street signs? Stop signs? They must have stolen a lot of them, to get fined like that.
Do you think they stole Minute Maid signs from the ball park? What did they do with them? Maybe they took the signs to pawn shops. I’ll bet you can find them on Craig’s List or eBay. Come to think of it, they probably gave them to their children.
If they give the signs back, do you think they will still have to pay?
The local news is running a survey, asking if fans think the Astros should have to give up the World Series trophy. Why would they even ask that? Stealing signs has nothing to do with ball games. What do you think?”
“I don’s see stealing baseball signs quite the way you do. I think you should Google it.”
