Thinking like a writer does not serve your freelance business well

Are you a freelance writer, but finding it harder than you imagined to make money from your craft?

Don’t feel alone. The business is not as easy as it seems.

You can have degrees, desire, and talent. But if you look in the mirror and see a writer, it’s tough to break into the field.

If the Broke Freelance Writers Association (BFWA) existed, I could have been the Chief Financial Officer. I know the dues you’d pay to qualify as a member.

You study the craft and write a few articles. You talk about what you are going to do. Maybe you send out a query letter or two. Even so, you don’t get any traction. And you don’t make any money.

Nobody wants a membership in that association.

But if you operate from the mindset of an employee instead of the mindset of an entrepreneur, the BFWA welcomes you.

When you try to run a business, yet you think like an employee, it’s hard to get your business off the ground.

Writing is merely one hat that freelance writers wear
