More often than I want to admit, I sit down to write, but my fingers freeze at the keyboard — like now.

I usually walk away disappointed, discouraged, and feeling blocked. But I have to stop pouring my strongest emotions into my problems. I must turn my attention to my intention.

Although I feel as blocked as I’ve ever felt, I’m determined to publish a Medium post today.

I understand the issues facing me. But I choose to rise above them. The bruises writers feel can turn into deep wounds and prevent us from doing what we want to do — write.

Have you read Verlyn Klinkenborg’s book, Several Short Sentences About Writing? I’ve only read it three times over the last few months. It’s one of my favorite writing books and, prayerfully, I can use it to help my fingers…
